Welcome to the official website of the North Carolina Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials. As a leading advocate for public safety communications professionals across the state, we are dedicated to fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration in emergency communications.
Being a member of the North Carolina Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials should be part of your professional development. Membership will provide you with training opportunities, access to publications, and advocacy at the state and national level on topics important to the public safety communication professional. You will establish professional contacts and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
APCO offers individual and group memberships for public safety practitioners and for companies that provide products and services to public safety communications agencies.
North Carolina APCO is a member driven association of communications professionals that provides leadership and opportunities; influences public safety communications decisions for government and industry; promotes professional development; and fosters the development and use of technology for the benefit of the public and responders.
APCO provides a plethora of training opportunities, including certification courses for Communications Training Officer (CTO) and Communications Center Supervisors. Training topics vary and the most up-to-date training schedule can be found on our Training Page.
North Carolina APCO also conducts the Telecommunicator Training Symposium and the NC Public Safety Communications Conference on an annual basis.

On May 8, 2024, during the Closing Banquet of the 2024 NC Public Safety Communications Conference, Shante Lipscomb took the oath of office as the Chapter President of North Carolina APCO. With three years of service on the North Carolina APCO Board, Shante now steps into the role as the 64th Chapter President. As Communications Manager for the North Carolina A&T University Police Department, Shante’s focus for her presidency is centered on renewal, refreshment, and recharging in the coming year.
