NC APCO Scholarships

The North Carolina APCO Scholarship program serves a dual purpose: to support the continuous education of NC APCO members and to invest in the future of the organization's membership. This scholarship, valued at $500, is available to all NC APCO members in good standing who meet specific criteria. These criteria encompass various educational opportunities, including attendance at the APCO International Registered Public Leader (RPL) program, the APCO International Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE) program, the APCO International Conference, the North Carolina Public Safety Communications Conference, or the North Carolina APCO Telecommunicator Symposium. Scholarship funds can be utilized for expenses associated with these educational pursuits, covering everything from course fees to travel costs, food, and lodging. However, it is important to note that scholarship funds cannot be used for entertainment or alcohol-related expenses. 

Disbursement of scholarship funds is contingent upon the successful completion of the chosen course or conference, necessitating the submission of detailed receipts and proof of course completion. To ensure that the scholarship funds are put to use promptly, recipients must utilize them within one year of being awarded. All applicants are required to read and understand the Full Scholarship Terms and Conditions before submitting their applications. 

The scholarship application review process is carried out by the North Carolina APCO Scholarship committee, appointed by the current President of the North Carolina Chapter of APCO. This committee, comprising a Chair and four members, all of whom must be NC APCO members in good standing, is responsible for impartially assessing scholarship applications. Importantly, committee members are not obliged to serve on the NC APCO Board, ensuring a diverse and inclusive selection process.
