Chapter Officer Nominations

2026 Chapter Officer Nominations

The Nominations Committee of the North Carolina Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (NC APCO) is now accepting nominations through 11:59pm ET on February 15, 2026, for the following Board positions:


  • Second Vice President - the Second Vice President shall perform all duties of the First Vice President in their absence. They shall participate in Chapter Board of Officers and Executive Board responsibilities as assigned. The Second Vice President will automatically advance to First Vice President, Chapter President, and then Immediate Past President. (The full term of this position is 4 years).


  • Chapter Treasurer - serves as the primary steward of the financial health of North Carolina APCO, overseeing all fiscal activities with accuracy, transparency, and accountability. Using QuickBooks, the treasurer maintains up-to-date financial records, manages accounts payable and receivable, reconciles bank statements, and tracks budgets against actual spending. Prepares regular financial reports for the board, supporting annual audits, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and helping guide financial decision making by providing clear, reliable data. (The term for this position is 2 years).


  • Executive Council Representative - serves as a vital link between North Carolina APCO and APCO International, facilitating the exchange of information and contributing to decision‑making that advances public safety communications. This role acts as a conduit for dialogue with the APCO International Board of Directors, ensuring the Chapter’s needs and perspectives are effectively represented while also communicating key updates and initiatives from APCO International back to the membership. (The term for this position is 4 years).


  • Regional Ambassadors - the Regional Ambassadors shall be required to work or live within their designated area of the state and help to facilitate an open line of communication between APCO Members and Emergency Communications Centers within their regions to the North Carolina APCO Board. (The term for this position is 2 years).

    In 2026, nominations are being accepted for the following regions:

    Region A - Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrell, Washington, and Wilson Counties.

    Region C - Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, and Wayne Counties.

    Region E - Anson, Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Richmond, Rowan, Scotland, Stanly, and Union Counties.


Anyone wishing to serve in any of these positions must be a Full Member of North Carolina APCO, and will also require a letter of concurrence to be completed by your direct supervisor indicating that your employer supports your service on the North Carolina APCO Board. Frequently Asked Questions

What is time timeline for the Chapter nominations and elections?

Nominations will be accepted through February 15, 2026. Once the nominations period has closed the Nominations Committee will seek additional information from each nominee to verify their eligibility.


Nominees will be invited to speak at the March 2026 Chapter Meeting, and online elections will open in mid-March through April 16, 2025.

If elected, when will the nominees begin their new roles?

Those elected will be sworn into their new positions in May 2026, during the 2026 NC Public Safety Communications Conference.

How long are the terms for the positions?

The Second Vice President role is a four‑year commitment, progressing sequentially to First Vice President, Chapter President, and then Immediate Past President.


The Executive Council Representative serves a four‑year term.


All other positions carry a two‑year term.

Who is eligible to run for office?

Any Full Member of APCO International who is affiliated with the North Carolina Chapter, is currently employed by a public-safety agency, and has the support of their agency is eligible to run for office.  Online and Associate members are not eligible to run for offices, but can easily upgrade their memberships to become eligible.

Who is eligible to vote in chapter elections?

All Full Members of APCO International who are affiliated with the North Carolina Chapter is eligible to vote.
