Interfaith Peer Support Network

Launching the NC APCO Interfaith Peer Support Network

In a landmark move for North Carolina’s emergency communications community, NC APCO has officially approved the creation of the NC APCO Interfaith Peer Support Network. This first-of-its-kind initiative is dedicated to supporting telecommunicators through chaplain-led, interfaith crisis care. As the program moves into its foundational phase, we are looking for dedicated leaders to help shape the future of peer support in our state through the Cornerstone Scholarship.

The Cornerstone Leadership Role

We are currently seeking five "Cornerstones"—individuals who will play a pivotal leadership role in the growth of this network. These selected leaders will be responsible for coordinating peer support requests within their assigned regions and providing oversight for 911 chaplains as the program expands. This is a unique opportunity for current and retired telecommunicators, trainers, and supervisors to build a lasting legacy that will impact the profession for years to come.

Scholarship Details and Requirements

The Cornerstone Scholarship is a one-time opportunity that covers the cost of tuition, books, and travel for the required in-person intensive in the Raleigh area from July 15–19. Please note that expenses are reimbursed upon the successful completion of the program. To be eligible, applicants must currently hold an ICISF Peer Support certification and must apply to the 911 Chaplain Academy for the class beginning April 27, 2026.

Important Deadlines

If you feel called to support your peers in a deeper capacity, we encourage you to submit your application via the below form before the deadline on April 3, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Selected applicants will be officially announced on April 11, 2026. Join us in building a vital support system that our profession has needed for a long time.
