Totes of Hope

The Totes of Hope initiative by North Carolina APCO is a statewide effort to provide support, compassion, and empathy to public safety communications centers during times of crisis and trauma. These totes are not intended to replace peer-support or critical incident stress debriefings, but rather to serve as a positive, work-appropriate distraction. They help team members cope with the overwhelming feelings of helplessness that can accompany traumatic calls.

Totes are strategically placed across all North Carolina APCO regions and are ready to be deployed. They can be used following natural disasters, line of duty deaths, unexpected losses of colleagues, and other traumatic incidents as needed.
